Writing down your goals is one of the keys to achieving them. In fact, studies of successful people have shown that those who write down their goals are more likely to achieve them than people who only think about them. But wording your goal correctly can make the difference between whether or not it is achieved. Here are a few points to keep in mind:
- Phrase your goal in the NOW, as though it is already achieved.
- Phrase your goal in the positive. (Write down what you want, not what you don’t want.) Your goal should reflect the end result that you intend to achieve.
- Your goal should be compelling enough that it pushes you to take action.
- Include yourself in the goal statement. For example, “I allow myself to earn $10,000 dollars this month from my Ambit business.”
- Be precise and concise.
- Eliminate the word “want.” Remember that want denotes lack. Would you rather want a lot of money or would you rather have a lot of money?
- State the end result, not the means of achieving it. When you state your goal, don’t explain how you’re going to get it.
- Word your goal so it relates to courage, acceptance or peace. For example: “I allow myself to…” I can …” or I open myself to…” I am…”
Now that you have a guideline as to how to write your goals down, It’s imperative that you read them first thing in the morning and every night before going to bed. And if you can, read them a few times during the day.
Make it your best week ever!
To your success,
